Put Inmates on Treadmills

RE: "HEY BUDDY, Can You Spare a Treadmill" article
What a wonderful idea to help the homeless and gather energy. It's a "feel good" thing. This would also be good for people in jail. That's the biggest waste of energy — having humans warehoused with nothing to do. The exercise would make them feel good, too.

Homeless Quote Offensive

I WAS A BIT offended by the article, "Hey Buddy, Can You Spare a Treadmill," about Dr. Sam Slishman's idea to generate power by having people pedal bicycles, because it defamed homeless people with the sentence, "As a source of renewable energy consider the homeless person, addicted to alcohol, pedaling out toxins."
Are the homeless the only people addicted to alcohol in this country? No, but they are easy to defame because they have no organization to defend them. Homelessness is caused by lack of affordable housing. Period. All the other labels attributed to someone who is homeless are arbitrary and a function of an inability to think and analyze the phenomena objectively.
